Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy

My novella Redemption with Amira Press is one of my biggest sellers and I have no doubt the appeal is largely due to my hot outlaw cowboy Ben Cready. Lately I've had a few requests to write MORE cowboys. So what is it about a cowboy that makes our senses tingle in all the best ways? Is it their inherent wildness? Of a man taming an otherwise wild land, working the earth, working up a sweat to provide for his woman and his children? Is the appeal that that kind of hard work automatically lends itself to the belief that a man willing to work that hard must be a man of good character?

What about those bad boy cowboys?

Ben Cready is definitely a bad boy but he has a good heart. Deep down he wants to be better and Katie helps him become that better man. He is a cut throat on the outside but to his woman he is gently and passionate. We love that outward roughness, tempered by the love of a good woman. The bad boy cowboy is all charm with a wink and a smile that melts us like butter. We know we shouldn't encourage him but really, he's just too damn irresistable.

Maybe it's the nostalgia factor. The love of tradition. The idea of finding that one good man and creating a life with him and having children and everyone working together on the ranch, a life and love that echoes for generations. Of cultivating a land together that will be passed down from son to son, daughter to daughter. Of legacy.

Or maybe it's just the idea of being taken roughly in the barn.

My novella Redemption is available through Amira Press and wherever ebooks are sold:

On the run from a murderous uncle, Katie Beaumont married outlaw Ben Cready the day before he was supposed to hang. They shared one night of explosive passion and for six months, she'd believed herself a widow. Now Ben is back to claim what's his, and that includes the sweet bride he'd never been able to forget.

Hope you enjoy it and I'd love to know what is the appeal of a cowboy for you and who are some of your favorites either on screen or on the page!
