Six Sentence Sunday

I have another yummy peek of my historical erotic romance Wanted! The release is just a few weeks away now!!!

Coming January 4th from Amira Press. Wanted: The Civil War is over and Mara Aubrey has returned her beloved plantation in Virginia to find that everything has changed. One change Mara finds she doesn't mind at all is the addition of their new field hand Colin Beaudine, a sexy cowboy whose blue eyes hold the promise of pleasures Mara can't imagine. Mara Aubrey is used to bending men to her will. Colin is used to women who revel in submitting to him. Has he finally met his match in the spoiled plantation owner's daughter, or is Mara brave enough to learn everything Colin wants to teach her?

Her body selfishly hummed with the need to have him take her utterly and completely, to join his body with hers in that final, irrevocable claiming.

But no. Not only because of the twinge of nervousness that pulsed through her at the thought of crossing that new line, but because he wasn't sufficiently in the palm of her hand yet. She wanted him willing to do anything she asked. She wanted to be the one to grant him that final gift. As it was, her nerves were so taut she felt as if she was the one surrendering, the one willing to do whatever he wanted if only he would assuage this searing flame that burned so violently whenever she was near him.

He grabbed her arm. "I won't play your childish little games, girl. Nick Morgan can have you if that's what you're up to."

Mara should have felt frightened by his anger, but she wasn't. She felt a thrilling shiver go through her and she moved closer to him. "He'll never have me. Ever," she whispered, looking up at him. "You and I both know that."

Holiday Gifts Of Love Blog Hop

I'm thrilled to be a part of the Holiday Gifts Of Love Blog Hop! Join me in celebrating the holidays with a fantastic group of authors as we share everything we love about Christmas, Christmas steamy stories and you might even learn a new tradition along with dozens of chances to win fantastic prizes!

In my family, the holiday takes place on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day is a relaxed, vegetative state where much grazing occurs, but Christmas Eve is when we actually celebrate. That's when everyone usually gets together for enough food to make you burst and presents are passed around as soon as the clock strikes midnight. The kiddies always insist they will stay up but only the most determined usually do and we end up having to drag half groggy little ones to the tree. Of course once the wrapping paper starts flying, they wake right up!

Dinner is usually a sublime roasted duck. We're not big ham or turkey folks, maybe because we're Portuguese. It's duck, roasted potatoes and veggies. There is always some kind of seafood dish too! Usually squid, baby octopus and shrimp. Dessert can be various little cakes but everyone usually gravitates towards the custard tarts (pasteis de nata if you're ever in a Portuguese bakery) and Honey cake (bolo de mel)

We do eggnog differently too. In that there is no egg and no nog. (what IS nog anyway?) Our version is a decadent dessert in a glass called Nikkita (no idea why!) It's from Madeira (where the mommy is from) and the recipe is sinfully simple. Equal parts vanilla ice cream and passion fruit soda (Sumol is our brand of choice). You can use seven up as a substitute and if you go to Madeira you'll find they use BEER in the restaurants! I'm partial to the passion fruit soda myself. Simply scoop three or four helpings of vanilla ice cream into a blender and pour in enough of the liquid (or liquor!) of your choice to level with the ice cream. Blend until you get it the consistency you like. Usually when it's just a little thicker than milk, you're good to go but by all means, add more or less liquid if you'd rather! You're going to be making batches of this stuff all night. Trust me.  It will separate as it stands. No worries. Just give it another quick blend before you serve. Enjoy!

For this week's six, poor Colin has been jumped by the KKK when Mara finds him and they're waiting for her slave Lou to return with help.

"This certainly wasn't how I hoped our next meeting would go."

"Just what…that little sweet brain of yours…have in mind?"

"I wouldn't want to make your pain worse by inflaming your already feverish desire for me."

That made him laugh, then groan at the obvious pain it caused him.

Mara whimpered. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to make it worse."

He took her hand and squeezed, making her pulse skip. "You didn't."

"You need someone to teach you a lesson about playing with fire, little girl."

"I dare you," she whispered back.

He groaned, a primal sound of possession Mara had never heard as his mouth finally closed over hers in a devastating kiss that shook the very earth beneath her. Lost, she grabbed at his shoulders, fearing she would spin off into the world as her senses left her so completely she'd be hard pressed to remember her very own name at the moment. No, he was most definitely not like the French men...boys, she amended, with whom she had flirted. None of them had kissed her like this.
