Six Sentence Sunday

I have another yummy peek of my historical erotic romance Wanted! The release is just a few weeks away now!!!

Coming January 4th from Amira Press. Wanted: The Civil War is over and Mara Aubrey has returned her beloved plantation in Virginia to find that everything has changed. One change Mara finds she doesn't mind at all is the addition of their new field hand Colin Beaudine, a sexy cowboy whose blue eyes hold the promise of pleasures Mara can't imagine. Mara Aubrey is used to bending men to her will. Colin is used to women who revel in submitting to him. Has he finally met his match in the spoiled plantation owner's daughter, or is Mara brave enough to learn everything Colin wants to teach her?

Her body selfishly hummed with the need to have him take her utterly and completely, to join his body with hers in that final, irrevocable claiming.

But no. Not only because of the twinge of nervousness that pulsed through her at the thought of crossing that new line, but because he wasn't sufficiently in the palm of her hand yet. She wanted him willing to do anything she asked. She wanted to be the one to grant him that final gift. As it was, her nerves were so taut she felt as if she was the one surrendering, the one willing to do whatever he wanted if only he would assuage this searing flame that burned so violently whenever she was near him.

In this week's six, Mara has snuck into Colin's room after an evening spent with another man in the hopes she can use the man's attraction to her get him to sell her father more slaves without having to sell her beloved horse, and make Colin jealous!

He grabbed her arm. "I won't play your childish little games, girl. Nick Morgan can have you if that's what you're up to."

Mara should have felt frightened by his anger, but she wasn't. She felt a thrilling shiver go through her and she moved closer to him. "He'll never have me. Ever," she whispered, looking up at him. "You and I both know that."

Holiday Gifts Of Love Blog Hop

I'm thrilled to be a part of the Holiday Gifts Of Love Blog Hop! Join me in celebrating the holidays with a fantastic group of authors as we share everything we love about Christmas, Christmas steamy stories and you might even learn a new tradition along with dozens of chances to win fantastic prizes!

In my family, the holiday takes place on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day is a relaxed, vegetative state where much grazing occurs, but Christmas Eve is when we actually celebrate. That's when everyone usually gets together for enough food to make you burst and presents are passed around as soon as the clock strikes midnight. The kiddies always insist they will stay up but only the most determined usually do and we end up having to drag half groggy little ones to the tree. Of course once the wrapping paper starts flying, they wake right up!

Dinner is usually a sublime roasted duck. We're not big ham or turkey folks, maybe because we're Portuguese. It's duck, roasted potatoes and veggies. There is always some kind of seafood dish too! Usually squid, baby octopus and shrimp. Dessert can be various little cakes but everyone usually gravitates towards the custard tarts (pasteis de nata if you're ever in a Portuguese bakery) and Honey cake (bolo de mel)

We do eggnog differently too. In that there is no egg and no nog. (what IS nog anyway?) Our version is a decadent dessert in a glass called Nikkita (no idea why!) It's from Madeira (where the mommy is from) and the recipe is sinfully simple. Equal parts vanilla ice cream and passion fruit soda (Sumol is our brand of choice). You can use seven up as a substitute and if you go to Madeira you'll find they use BEER in the restaurants! I'm partial to the passion fruit soda myself. Simply scoop three or four helpings of vanilla ice cream into a blender and pour in enough of the liquid (or liquor!) of your choice to level with the ice cream. Blend until you get it the consistency you like. Usually when it's just a little thicker than milk, you're good to go but by all means, add more or less liquid if you'd rather! You're going to be making batches of this stuff all night. Trust me.  It will separate as it stands. No worries. Just give it another quick blend before you serve. Enjoy!

As a part of the hop, each of the participating authors are giving away a little something. I thought for my prize I would give away a sneak peek at my upcoming historical erotic romance Wanted! I've been sharing snippets from it for the past couple of weeks and you guys have told me your're really excited for when this releases on January 4th so how about a peek at the first chapter?  Just comment here between Dec 14th and the 17th and I'll pick one lucky commenter to win that first chapter!

But that's not all you can win!

There is a huge blog hop grand prize you can win by commenting one my blog and by visiting the other participating hoppers! The more blogs you comment on, the more chances you have to win that grand prize! So what IS the grand prize? Have a lookie loo!

For this week's six, poor Colin has been jumped by the KKK when Mara finds him and they're waiting for her slave Lou to return with help.

"This certainly wasn't how I hoped our next meeting would go."

"Just what…that little sweet brain of yours…have in mind?"

"I wouldn't want to make your pain worse by inflaming your already feverish desire for me."

That made him laugh, then groan at the obvious pain it caused him.

Mara whimpered. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to make it worse."

He took her hand and squeezed, making her pulse skip. "You didn't."

"You need someone to teach you a lesson about playing with fire, little girl."

"I dare you," she whispered back.

He groaned, a primal sound of possession Mara had never heard as his mouth finally closed over hers in a devastating kiss that shook the very earth beneath her. Lost, she grabbed at his shoulders, fearing she would spin off into the world as her senses left her so completely she'd be hard pressed to remember her very own name at the moment. No, he was most definitely not like the French men...boys, she amended, with whom she had flirted. None of them had kissed her like this.

This week I've got a new snippet from Colin and Mara's story as well as a release date! January 4th, 2013 so mark your calendars!

"Ya'll best get on now." His voice was low, without the slightest hint of menace, but Mara found her heart racing in her chest.

Like a tall, brave avenger, black hat perched on his head, Colin scanned the three men and gave the briefest glance to the people in the carriage.

Mara's heart stopped when all three men whirled their guns on Colin. With their attention diverted, Jack once again reached behind him for the rifle and Mara ever so slowly pushed the gun into her father's hand with her foot.

"I hate you," she whispered, even as she clutched him closer. "I despise you." Her body trembled over him, proving the lies in her words.

He cupped her behind, pulling her down against the thickness of his erection, rubbing her now damp panties along his length. He chuckled and flipped her onto her back. "No you don't." He nibbled at her lips, pinning her with a gaze as hard as his cock which he thrust against her. "You wish you did, but you want this." He undulated his hips, giving her a preview of what was to come. "You want me."

Six Sentence Sunday

I have another sneak peek for you, lovely readers from my upcoming historical erotic romance Wanted, coming soon from Amira Press. We get Colin and Mara's first meeting this week. But first, the blurb!

The Civil War is over and Mara Aubrey has returned her beloved plantation in Virginia to find that everything has changed. One change Mara finds she doesn't mind at all is the addition of their new field hand Colin Beaudine, a sexy cowboy whose blue eyes hold the promise of pleasures Mara can't imagine. Has he finally met his match in the spoiled plantation owner's daughter, or is Mara brave enough to learn everything Colin wants to teach her?

Mara whirled around with a shocked cry and felt a jolt of electricity when she realized she was now face to face with him.

He towered over her at well above six feet and Mara found herself short of breath while she took in the utter male beauty of him. His dark hair came just below his neck with a soft wave and had a lush fullness that made Mara's fingers twitch with the urge to slide into it. His blue eyes held hers, making her pulse race through her blood that seemed to grow thicker in her veins. Curved, slightly full lips were framed by a stubbled jaw and cheeks. Mara unconsciously licked her lips, wondering what it would feel like to kiss that mouth.

Food For The Muse-2

"We have to get ready or we'll be late," she giggled as he gathered her close.
He nuzzled her neck and she arched back, feeling her resistance failing. She sighed into his mouth and gripped his shoulders, reveling in the taught broad muscle.
He moved his hands to her thighs and she whimpered at the heat of his palms, stroking her smooth skin. With a groan of need, he picked her up off her feet and brought her straight into contact with the thick column of his erection.
"This won't take long, baby. Promise." He caught her mouth again and backed them up against the stove pulling her tighter against his cock before spinning her around and setting her on the counter.
She was wet, and aching, unable to resist as the man she loved beyond bearing pulled his cock free and pushed her panties aside, sliding home deep inside of her with a moan that she echoed.
They were late.

Six Sentence Sunday

Thanks so much to all my lovely readers who keep coming back each Sunday to check out my snippets. I'll be sharing snippets now from my upcoming historical erotic romance Wanted, coming soon from Amira Press. First, the blurb!

Mara Aubrey is used to bending men to her will. Colin is used to women who revel in submitting to him. Has he finally met his match in the spoiled plantation owner's daughter, or is Mara brave enough to learn everything Colin wants to teach her?

Now for this week's six, why don't we begin at the beginning:

The second Mara laid eyes on him, something dark and hungry stirred deep in her soul. She wanted him.

She watched him silently as he led one of the horses through the stone arch toward the stables. He moved with smooth purpose, long legs clad in brown trousers. She gave a little start when he turned suddenly, having surely sensed her eyes on him. He was too far away to tell, but Mara could swear the corner of his mouth turned up and he touched his beige cowboy hat briefly before turning away.

Pinterest-How Can It Help Authors?

"A giant time-suck." Sure. Pinterest can be that. But so can facebook. So can Twitter. Then again, both those tools can be invaluable to writers if you know how to use them and Pinterest is no different.

With all social networks, it's the 'social' that most writers seem to have trouble grasping. It's not 'buy my book, buy my book' all day long. It's be interesting. Be funny. And pics of hot guys certainly help too! Interact with your fellow writers, because guess what, THEIR readers just may become YOUR readers too if they like how you interact with their favorite author. They just may head on over to check out your profile page or author page and see what you're all about.

Pinterest is no different really. Yes there are more pictures of hot guys. There are more pictures of everything really because that's what pinterest is. A huge place to post and save pics of everything you're little heart desires!

So how is this of any use to writers? Well, there's the obvious, you can create a board for your book covers. Good start. But that's not all by any stretch of the imagination! You can set up boards for each of your books, sharing pics of characters, settings, foods, clothes all either used in your books or as inspiration for your scenes and characters. Along with the things you have up that are just things you love as a person, not just an author. A really delicious pic of a cake can draw in a pinterest user to you. They see what else you have to offer and oh lookie, they discover you're an author. A potential reader right there.

Keep your content fresh to keep visitors coming back. I find this is actually easier with pinterest than any other social network because the whole site is chock full of images. Repinning things is great, but venture out a bit from people you follow to the category and everything tabs on pinterest so authors aren't just pinning the same things from each other. Venture even further than that for yummy, sexy, interesting pics. Google Images, different websites. Variety is key in keeping your content fresh.

And how great are those sensual, romantic pics to get the creative juices flowing? Writer's block? Just spend some time looking through gorgeous, sexy images of couples in various states of sensuality! It was while on pinterest that I got the idea to write little flash fics based around those images here on my blog, giving my blog followers here a little taste of my writing (see previous post Food For The Muse).

And as always, interaction is key here on Pinterest too! Comment on pics you like! Interact with your favorite pinners. Follow writers and non writers.

Pinterest is still a new medium we're all enjoying and still getting used to. I'm sure we haven't even begun to see how this new social network can help us as writers but those are just a few ways in which I've found they've been useful for me! Hope you join up if you haven't yet!

Food For The Muse

I got an idea while indulging in my addiction to Pintrest (LOVE that place!) to post little snippets around steamy and romantic pics I find. Like a little flash fiction type of thing. I'll try for weekly snippets and maybe these will inspire my fellow writers as well as giving my readers something yummy to enjoy! Comment love as always is much appreciated!

She whimpered into his mouth. He tasted of peppermint, faintly of wine and the sweetness of the chocolate covered butterscotch. The chocolate was the only real indulgence he allowed to potentially mar the hard body he worked to maintain. She rubbed herself against the hair roughened warm wall of his chest.

"I missed you so much," she exhaled. Three days. Three long lonely nights away on business.

He nudged upward with his hips, prodding against her thigh with his erection. He stroked her hip with his free hand, the other anchoring her to him. "Show me."

Six Sentence Sunday

On the run from a murderous uncle, Katie Beaumont married outlaw Ben Cready the day before he was supposed to hang. They shared one night of explosive passion and for six months, she'd believed herself a widow. Now Ben is back to claim what's his, and that includes the sweet bride he'd never been able to forget.

Then, she thought of Ben. She couldn’t live without him. To let her uncle take her away with him would be a worse kind of death than trying to escape and getting shot for the attempt. She had to try. Getting back to Ben was worth anything, even her very life.

She reached into the wagon, grabbed the tin box, and swung it with all her might.

But Mrs. Mallory turned and walked in step with them toward the small, white-board chapel. “I didn’t think a man of your reputation would be interested in hearing the word of the Lord.”

“Oh, sure am. Why, just last night the missus here had me praising our good Lord, loud as can be,” Ben replied, and Katie tripped in her horror. Ben’s arm tightened around her securely.

Beth’s face went stark white, and her mouth opened and closed as she was at an obvious loss for words.

Six Sentence Sunday

I'm so thrilled to have new visitors here thanks to the Alpha Male Blog hop and hope you all decide to stick around to see what I have to offer. I would definitely say our hero in this week's Six Sentence Sunday, Ben Cready, in my historical erotic romance Redemption is an alpha! It was a lot of fun writing this hardened outlaw be brought to his knees by his innocent wife Katie!

"You scare the shit right out of me with how you look at me.”

“How’s that?” she asked quietly, stepping forward, emboldened by the truth that simmered through her, the truth he so easily saw.

“Like I’m some kind of hero. Like you’re feeling things you’ve got no business feeling for the likes of me if you’ve got the brains God gave a goat.”

“The big bad Ben Cready is afraid of little old me?” Katie teased with a smile.

Alpha Male Blog Hop!

I'm so tickled to be a part of the Alpha Male Blog Hop, where a bunch of us authors offer our takes and opinions on the absolute hottest heroes in romance, the alpha male and offer some AMAZING prizes. Make sure to visit all the participating authors in the list at the end of this post for a chance to win free books and a fantastic haul of swag that will make any book lovers mouth water!

Is there anything hotter than a powerful man brought to his knees by the strength of his love for one woman? He will fight to the death to protect what is his, and yes, he is old fashioned enough that the heroine is most definitely his. She should fight against that chauvinism, and indeed, some of the hottest sparks between them comes as she tries to assert her independence. Deep down, a part of her yearns to be taken, ravished and dominated by a man who knows how. The alpha male knows how to strike that balance between control and compromise. He will do anything to get the heroine into his bed, and she will let him because the sensuality and power he oozes from every pore is absolutely irresistible to her.

But the alpha male has no interest in a  weak woman . Indeed it is that push/pull as she tries to resist his hold over her, this delicious passion between them that inflames him so. The alpha male is intense. He does nothing by half measures both in and out of the bedroom and while the heroine most definitely succumbs to the delicious passion between them, she is left stronger, not weaker. Being loved by an alpha male allows the  heroine to flourish because he is able to reach that core of her sexuality that no other man can. She feels power as she has never known because she can bring this powerful man to his knees even as he shatters her defenses again and again. There's a fine line and the alpha male knows just how to take his woman, yet not let her lose herself. He wants her strong. He wants her to keep her fire.

In my contemporary erotic romance Blood Vows Book One-The Vendetta, the hero, Alessandro Dardano is the ultimate alpha. This wealthy Italian stallion is used to getting what he wants, and he wants Brianna O'Reiley.

True, their rival mafia families have been trying to kill each other for over fifty years, but he's alpha enough not to let that stand in his way!

Brianna might have a thing or two or three to say about that but she can't deny that Alessandro makes her feel things no other man ever has. Their passion sets them both ablaze and makes her willing to toss all caution to the wind. Not that she's going to make it easy on him. Oh no. Brianna will fight him every step of the way.

But funny how a lot of those fights end up in the bedroom, where neither of them ever loses!

Blood Vows Book One
The O’Reiley’s and the Dardano families have always despised each other, turning New York City into a war zone and dividing the loyalties of the biggest families in organized crime. When mob princess Brianna O’Reiley’s husband is murdered under the patriarch Bernardo Dardano’s orders, she vows vengeance on the family that has destroyed hers.
Trying to regroup after her loss, Brianna leaves her young son William with her family and leaves the city to spend some time alone. A snow storm blows in and she crashes into another car on the road. Both she and the other driver are unharmed and take shelter from the storm where Brianna allows herself for just one night, to forget her tragedy in this stranger’s arms.
They part, neither knowing the other’s identity only to discover in a cruel twist of fate that the passionate stranger who helped her through her grief is none other than Alessandro Dardano, the eldest son of Bernardo, returned to New York from running his father’s business overseas to now take his place as Bernardo’s successor.
And Brianna is now pregnant with his child.

I'm giving away an ebook copy to one lucky commenter! Just leave me a comment (with your e-mail addy TOO!) and you'll be entered to win a copy of Blood Vows BookOne-The Vendetta. Why do you love alphas? What is it about them that you can't get enough of?

Yep, ALL that! Now make sure and visit everyone else's blogs to get a chance to win some other great prizes and share your thoughts on the deliciousness that is the alpha male hero!

“He wanted to fuck you. But you’re mine. My wife.” His hips pumped hard and fast as if punishing her for being the object of another man’s desire.

He felt too good inside of her, and as much as Katie wanted to be furious with him for his questioning of her fidelity, she could think of nothing beyond the ecstasy boiling through her veins. She whimpered and was unable to resist moving back against him to drive him deeper.

“Don’t look at me like that,” he warned her, cupping her breast.

“Why not?” She ran her foot along the back of his calf, rubbing against the coarse dark hair.

He pressed his forehead against her and locked his gaze with hers. “’Cause I’ll forget you’re a lady and fuck you right through this mattress.”

Katie’s smile widened, and she ran a hand down his broad, strong back.

His grey eyes flashed like quicksilver as they moved along her face, and Katie shivered at the heat she saw there.

“Christ, but you’re . . . I can’t even think of no fancy words.”

Katie swept her gaze over the handsome bones of his face. Her heart tripled its longing rhythm. “You don’t need them.” She boldly reached up and cupped his stubbled cheeks, pulling his mouth back to hers.

“Man spends nights covered in dirt, days covered in dust and blood. When all you see is brown or red, white is like a dream you keep chasing but never quite reach. That’s what you smell like to me. All pure and clean.” He nuzzled the side of her face, and Katie’s heart started racing, the scrape of his stubble along her soft skin sending tremors through her body. “White.”

“I already told you. I don’t want my uncle’s blood on my hands.”

“Won’t be on your hands. Won’t be on nobody’s hands if he understands that you’re mine. I always protect what’s mine.” His hands flexed around her waist, and he looked down at her with a flare of hunger that took her breath away.

“My husband is a good man,” Katie replied, her stomach tight with uncertainty. Her husband was back. Whether anything about him had changed, who was she to say, considering he was still very much a stranger to her?

“If he’s truly renounced all wickedness, I imagine we’ll see him in church this Sunday,” Mrs. Mallory said.

Katie’s mind drifted back to the “wickedness” she and Ben had engaged in earlier, and her cheeks flamed. “Yes. Now, if you’ll excuse me, ladies, I need to get back to my shopping.”

As if following her trail of arousal, Ben moved his hand out from the collar of her nightgown and moved it to her thigh. Katie’s core throbbed and clutched desperately at the feel of his hand moving higher on her leg and pushing the nightgown up. Slipping inside her underclothes, his fingers met bare, wet skin. She bit her lip so hard she almost broke the skin. Katie heard him groan behind her when he delved a finger into her pussy.

“Remembered you like this,” Ben whispered n her ear, which made her jump with the realization that he was now fully awake.

Katie had lain there, staring up at the wooden beams above and closed her eyes while letting his warm, musky scent transport her back to the night before when he’d moved over her, had done things to her that had made her body greedy, open, wet, and had made her want things she had no understanding of.

And oh, he’d given. He’d given hard and deep, had plunged his cock into her again and again, but she could feel the restraint there in his muscles, saw it in his face. He had held back, for her. It made Katie want it all the more. Want him.

His mouth quirked upward. “Honey, I’ve replayed that night in my head so many times. It’s what kept me from going fuckin’ mad, remembering. But even though I’m hard as a rock right now, I ain’t got the energy to fuck a goat.”

He turned away from her but stopped before he passed through the kitchen toward the pantry and turned back. “I suppose it’s best to get used to having each other around first.”

He turned toward the pot over the fire. Crouching, he took a long, deep breath and inhaled the aroma, and Katie could only guess how hungry he must be.

“Uh . . . Mister—”

He turned back to her, and again, there was that cold half smile. “I believe the last time we talked I asked you to call me Ben.”

Katie’s cheeks flushed at the reminder. The last time he’d made the request he’d been inside of her.

“It’s not just about the pardon. No, you’re right about that. It’s about Kyle, and it’s about all the other innocents who’ve been caught in the crossfire of this life. It took knowing they had you for me to realize I couldn’t live that life anymore. Her smile faded, and she bit her lip and sat back in her seat. “So you’re actually doing this? I mean, I know Jake Moroni and his men, but obviously not better than you. They’re going to come after you for this, aren’t they? Ryan…if…” She shivered and closed her eyes. “You put a target on your back tonight, didn’t you?”

He knew it was childish, but he didn’t feel like giving in to Claire’s wishes after she had shot him down so coldly. It was spite, pure and simple, but Ryan was too angry to care. He’d bared himself to her, and she had taken his heart and crushed it in her hands.

Christ, Wyatt, but you really are a fucking moron. Ten years of building a hard shell around his heart, letting no woman in, and with one look into those big brown eyes, it was like he was a seventeen-year-old kid again. He had held her in his dirty, worthless hands, and in that trailer park he’d felt like a king, like he was blessed simply by virtue of touching such a pure, beautiful creature.

Julie held her breath, watching him silently for a second. Josh stood in front of the large canvas, bared to the waist and clad in blue jeans that fit him well, cupping the firm ass she knew so well.
His assistant had let her in. He informed her that no, Josh hadn't left yet.
He hadn't heard her come in, so lost in his artwork. There was a smudge of white paint along the back of his neck where he had rubbed it without thinking.
Julie took a step forward, her red heel clicking on the wood floor.
Now he heard her. His long, muscled body stiffened and Julie's mouth went dry.
"I came back." The words came out choked and she saw him flinch.
He turned. Julie didn't breathe, held pinned in place by the heat in blue eyes. His eyes held hers and the passion in them weakened her knees so that she had to look around for something to grip.
Josh gave himself. In three long strides he was in front of her, gripping her arms and Julie sagged against him, secure in the knowledge he wouldn't let her fall.
Her vision blurred as tears filled her eyes.
"For good now? You're choosing me? You're sure?" He shook her gently with each question.
Julie nodded. His mouth caught hers, hot and rough. Her senses spun. The world around her exploded in bliss. Oh yes, she was sure. This was home.

A marked lack of a sex life had made being on the pill unnecessary, and the few times since Ryan that she’d actually had sex, condoms were nonnegotiable. She squeezed her eyes shut and flopped back down on the bed. The few times since Ryan had left a less-than-stellar impression on her. She hated to admit that it was because she compared every man to the boy she had loved and they always came up wanting.

Now, having had him back inside of her for those few hot, desperate minutes had been like being given a taste of long-denied heaven and rekindling the flame of lust deep within her until, even in her shame, she was craving him again.

Damn him.

She whimpered. A protest? A plea to continue? Ryan felt her hands slide down his shirt to the leather belt around his waist and tug impatiently. He broke the kiss briefly only to meet her gaze before his eyes drifted down and he held his breath with what felt like inhuman patience as she stopped.

“What would you have done?” Claire whispered, her voice desperate for something, some answer that made what they were about to do okay and not a betrayal of her brother’s memory.

"It matters to me that you understand I would never have let anything happen to Kyle if—”

“Why?” Claire asked, her eyes filling with tears. “Why the hell does it matter?”

“Because,” he whispered, gripping her arms, pressing his forehead to hers, his ragged breath hot against her face. “I can’t bear it that you hate me. I can’t bear it anymore, Claire.”

He feigned a smile and reached across the table for her hand, then gripped her fingers tightly before she could snatch them back.
“Is he the one you want?” he asked. “The old Ryan? Maybe with the right incentive, I could be persuaded to bring him back. What do you say, Claire?” He brought her hand to his mouth and pressed his lips against the soft skin, willing the old Ryan to stay back, the old Ryan who wanted to grab her and wrap himself around her and just gorge himself on her until everything but the beauty of how they had been flared between them again.

She’d known that look well. She’d seen him cultivate it out of necessity as a teenager. While other boys’ goals involved getting the hottest girls to notice them, throwing the game-winning touchdown, and mastering just enough of academics to get into a decent school, Ryan Wyatt wanted only to not feel, to be so cold, so strong that nothing could ever hurt him.

So instead, he hurt others. Claire stared at him now, seeing nothing of the shy, gentle boy she had grown up with. He’d been successful in his goal.
